SBU awards four J.R. Maupin full-tuition scholarships
BOLIVAR, Mo.— Four prospective students at Southwest Baptist University were awarded the J.R. Maupin Full-Tuition Scholarship after the annual Scholars Day event in February.
• Jonathan Brant of Belleville, Ill., is a student at Althoff Catholic High School. He is the son of Ray and Sheridan Brant.
• Elijah Van Hoecke of Shawnee Mission, Kan., is a student at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He is the son of Patrick and Valerie Van Hoecke.
• Jonathan Becker of Blue Springs, Mo., is a student at Blue Springs High School. He is the son of Steven and Rhonda Becker.
• Allison Tinch of Springfield, Ill., is a student at Springfield Southeast High School. She is the daughter of Michael and Kristen Tinch.
More than 200 students competed for the scholarships by being interviewed by a faculty panel and writing an essay. Students who were not selected for the Maupin scholarships were awarded Dutile Scholar Awards of up to $2,500 that are in addition to the University’s merit-based scholarship program that offers scholarships from $4,000 to $9,000 based on ACT/SAT scores and high school grade-point average.
